The Montessori Classroom

"There is a great sense of community within the Montessori classroom, where children of differing ages work together in an atmosphere of cooperation rather than competitiveness. There is respect for the environment and for the individuals within it, which comes through experience of freedom within the community."

– Maria Montessori

Alice's Montessori | Infant and Toddler

Infant and Toddler

Our beautifully designed infant and toddler campus is conveniently located between our two preschool campuses. This school was specifically created to provide a safe and loving environment for younger children. It was our goal to have a place that parents felt comfortable leaving their new babies, whether that be for a full day or simply a few hours. Our infant and toddler teachers are patient and loving people who enjoy caring for children this age. They understand the unique needs of each child in our center and take the time to ensure that every child receives exactly what they need, whether that means extra time to eat their lunch, more running outside on our beautiful playground, or a special song sung to them at nap time.

At Alice's Montessori our number one goal is to teach children that learning is fun. It is our belief that children who love to learn will never utter phrases such as "I hate reading" or "math is too hard". Our incredible teachers take the time to formulate individual learning plans for every child based on their academic abilities as well as their likes and dislikes. We find ways to incorporate fun into every area of the classroom, and teach children that challenges can be rewarding. Mixed age classrooms allow younger children to learn from the "big kids", and taking on the role of a teacher can allow a friend to truly master a work and share their knowledge and experience with others in a way that makes learning fun and social!

Alice's Montessori | Transitional Kindergarten

Transitional Kindergarten & Kindergarten

In the Montessori classroom, Transitional Kindergarten is the culmination of everything the children have learned in the previous years. Young children absorb information from the environment and organize it in their own minds. Around the age of five, children explode into written language, mathematical computation, cultural understanding and complex social interactions.

The Montessori classroom contains a large variety of works, beginning with very simple concepts for our young two year olds and progressing in difficulty to keep even the most advanced students looking forward to the next challenge. Kindergarten students become role models and often enjoy "teaching" younger children. With kindergarten also comes responsibility. Children are given task cards each day with reading and math activities that encourage a natural progression onto the more advanced materials. After lunch, while the younger children nap, kindergarten children enjoy a special extended learning period with more advanced concepts and materials being introduced.

We just want to say how much we appreciate all the kindness and caring you have shown our two children. Each and every day they truly feel fulfilled and greet us with a huge smile on their faces. It's so nice to know that they are in such good hands with teachers who truly teach from the heart! Thank you Alice's for everything!

Kathy & David Futterman

Alice’s Montessori has been a warm and stimulating environment for our children to grow and explore the world. We were particularly drawn to the staff; they have been so wonderful and caring that at the end of the day our children often don’t want to leave!

Neil & Debbie Kilcoin

Our son is thriving at Alice's Montessori! The kids get a lot of individual attention from the teachers but also learn to work well in groups and independently on a variety of activities. We highly recommend this Montessori!

As a parent who has had 2 children at Alice's over the last 5 years, I have only the greatest admiration for the consistent quality and care of the teachers and staff. My kids love the school and have thrived there.
